Little Miss Lorraine | Featured Shop of the Week

As of next week I will be starting an exciting new series on the blog showcasing the amazing local Australian talent of handmade and vintage shop owners. These small businesses can often be looked over for cheaper, more commercial goods. From experience, the quality of the goods and the customer service you receive from these small businesses far exceeds that of the larger department stores.

Each Wednesday I will be showcasing a new shop for you on the blog. I encourage you to read their stories and have a look at what they are offering. Support your local!

To start off the series, I thought I would let you in behind the scenes of my own Etsy store, Little Miss Lorraine.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hi there my name is Jess! I am a 20 something lover of beauty, craft, interior design & DIY. I am also a keen but by no means experienced Yogi. I have a wonderfully supportive boyfriend and together we live with our beautiful (and noisy!!) rainbow lorikeet Opal.

What made you want to start your shop
I love the satisfaction that comes from making your own things. I also love making things for other people which is why I started Little Miss Lorraine! A little hobby of mine to share some of my makes with other people.

Where did the idea for the name of your shop come from

My shop name "Little Miss Lorraine" is based on...me! I am only 5"1 and often get referred to (not by choice!) as "little Jess".  I am a Miss (for now!) and Lorraine is my middle name which I share with one of my Grandmothers.

Tell us about the products you sell and your processes
Little Miss Lorraine is a combination of vintage wares, handmade home decor and paper goods. Our vintage wares are in very good condition and have been sourced from loving homes. All of our sewn goods are sewn on my Grandmothers sewing machine, something she handed down to me before moving into a retirement village. Every single card and gift tag is handmade and a lot of thought goes into the final product.

A look behind the scenes!
What is the most useful piece of advice you have been given in regards to your shop
Don't let your shop get too much for you! If you become too stressed out over the amount of sales you have, filling your shop with stock and dealing with customer enquiries, you will end up resenting the very thing you love doing!
What do you love most about your shop
I love the connections and opportunities my shop has opened for me. Connecting with other Australian Etsy & small business shop owners has been such a great learning experience, and I will definitely be continuing these relationships as time goes on.

Tell us where we can find out more about you & your shop

Bosch Glue Gun | First Impressions (perfect last minute Christmas idea!)

If you are a lover of any form of DIY I highly recommend you invest in a Bosch GluePen. I received mine as an early Christmas present from Santa (aka my Dad!) and have been so impressed with how amazing this product is.

It is basically the same idea as a hot glue gun - only better! It has a lithium battery which means it is used without cords, a massive plus in my books! The battery will last continuously for around 30 minutes and doesn't take very long to charge.

The glue pen is so easy to use. All you need to do is insert the glue stick into the hole at the back of the pen and push down on the red lever until the glue comes out! The way the glue pen is designed means that it is very easy to be precise with the glue which means less mess! The glue does not string like a normal glue gun which is fantastic. The outside of the gun does not get hot (only to bottom section & the tip) which makes it a great tool for children to use as well (with supervision of course!)

The glue dries very quickly and once it has dried it is very strong.

I have been very impressed so far and have a whole list of projects in my head that I will be using this for!!

The glue pen would make the perfect Christmas present, and for around $50 it is very reasonably priced.

Have you heard of / tried the glue pen before? What are your thoughts?

xx

Skincare Routine | Beauty

Today I wanted to share my current skincare routine with you. This is something I try to stick to everyday, no matter how tired or rubbish I am feeling. I absolutely love the way my skin looks and feels after using these products. Warning: this blog post contains a lot of Natio products! If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know about my love for Natio products and how great they make my skin feel.

Morning

I start off my morning routine with Johnson's face wipes. This ensures my skin is completely clean from the day before. Next I move on to to Natio's Gentle Skin Toner. This gives the face a deeper clean and helps to smooth out any imperfections with the skin. I finish off with Natio's Daily Protection Face Moisturiser with SPF 15. I believe it is so important to use a daily moisturiser with SPF in it for extra protection from the sun.

Night

My nighttime routine is slightly more involved because I usually shower at night. Whilst I am in the shower, I use Natio's Gentle Foaming Cleaner to start cleansing my skin. I then follow this up 2 - 3 times a week with Natio's Acne Clear Pores. I have been loving this product and feel like it has definitely helped keep my skin clear. If I have been wearing makeup, I will follow up my shower cleanse by using the face wipes again to ensure I have removed all of my makeup. I then use the toner again to remove any residual products from the day. Finally, I use Natio's Intensive Moisturising Night Cream to help put moisture back in to my skin and keep it smooth and soft.

Do you have a daily skin care routine? What products do you like to use?

Perfect Curls | A First Impression

A few weeks ago I purchased a couple of products from the Tony and Guy hairstyling range to try. One of them was the Spray Gel for Curls and I have to say it has been my go to product for the last few weeks.

There are a couple of things I really love about this product. It gives the hair amazing texture by separating the curls and making them look more natural, and it keeps the curls in all day / all night! I have also found my curls still look good the day after using. One of the main reasons I love this product is that it feels like there is nothing in my hair. I do not like products that make your hair feel stiff / dry / oily as I feel like I have to wash my hair straight away.

The spray gel is so easy to use. I have thick, long hair, and 4 sprays is more than enough for me. All you need to do is spray in your hair and scrunch until you have reached the desired look.

This little guy cried until I brought him into the bathroom with me - Mummy's boy!

Have you tried out this product or do you have a similar product that you love? Let me know!
