Haul | Saturday Shopping

My partner and I are hoping to buy a house this year, so I have been trying not to spend too much money on things like clothes and shoes etc "luxury items" as some might say. I think I have been pretty good so far (considering I really don't have money to spend anyway haha!) but had a few items on my wish list I wanted to purchase.

I went shopping on the weekend and picked up a few items! Most of these items were paid for by vouchers I still had from Christmas or some Mum had from work so I really only ended up spending about $50 which I was pretty happy with!

So what did I get?

Boots - Betts Shoes - $90
I have been looking for flat black boots for ages so I was really happy when I found these at Betts! I love the buckle detail at the top of them and they fit perfectly.

Jackets - Cotton On - $30 each
These jackets from Cotton On Body are so comfortable and are perfect for the cooler weather that is starting to arrive in South Australia (not that I am complaining - I love the cold!) At the bottom of the sleeves there is a thumb hole which is great for keeping your hands slightly warmer.

Poncho - Miss Shop, Myer - $40
When I first tried this on, I really wasn't sure whether I liked it or not. My sister said it suited me (she is very truthful when it comes to trying on clothes which is great!) so I knew she meant it, but because I don't usually wear clothes this baggy, I was unsure. After having it on for a while and coming up with a few outfits in my head, I decided I did like it! I love that this poncho has a collar that can be rolled down. I think this is something you could dress up or down.

I still have a few more items on my wishlist (of course!) but I will slowly chip away at purchasing these.

Mini Haul | Miki

Yesterday I went shopping at Burnside Village with my mum and sister for her 21st dress. She found a gorgeous white dress (a post will be up about her birthday when the time comes) and we also happened to pop into the pharmacy.

The Miki stand had a great 4 for $10 deal, so my sister and I took advantage of it! Here's what I got:

Miki No. 1 & Miki No. 21 Nail Polish

I absolutely adore these colours. The bright pink (No.1) will be perfect for summer and the lavender (No. 21) will definitely get a workout this spring (I tried this colour out on my nails today and love it!)

Miki Intense Colour Liquid Eyeliner - Black

I really wanted to use liquid eyeliner again. I have been using a Maybelline gel eyeliner, but the liquid eyeliners are just so quick and easy to use.

Miki Eyeshadow Palette in Smokey Neutrals

This would have to be my favourite purchase of the day. I love eyeshadow palettes (I use my Natio Sunset Eyeshadow Palette nearly every day) and know that this will become a firm favourite. I adore all of the colours, and together they make a really subtle but gorgeous smokey eye.

Crafternoon Delight!

Last week, a couple of friends and I decided to have a bit of a "crafternoon" around at my house, and we were actually quite productive!

One of the major "crafty" (more like DIY) things we did was repaint my chest of drawers. I have been wanting to do this for ages as it was a completely different colour to the rest of my bedroom furniture! And for the cost of the paint, it was a lot cheaper to paint it rather then get another one.

What you will need:

- A sander, just to get the old varnish off (I picked one up from Bunnings for $34)
- Paint (I chose Gloss Paint and it made all the difference!)
- A paint brush. Now the man at Bunnings did say to use a roller, but the paint went on so much nicer with the paint brush.

Step 1.

Remove the handles from the drawers.

(NB: For the next few steps, you need to be somewhere well ventilated!)

Step 2.

Sand the varnish off of the drawers with the sander.

Step 3.

Find a container that will allow you to drill holes in it and drill enough holes so that all of the handles have something to dry on (if they are circle!)

This is what I did and it made painting the handles so much easier!! Placed the screws from the handles through the holes and then screwed the handles back onto them!

Step 4.

Paint the handles and the drawers.

These will need to dry overnight and then you can put it all back together!

This is what my chest of drawers looked like before:

And this is the finished result!

So much nicer!!

The other project that we completed was flower pots - with a twist! These are so so cute and easy, and would be a great gift for somebody.

What you will need:

- A tray for the pots to sit on
- 3 x pots (or however many will fit on your chosen tray)
- Soil
- Plants (these could be flowers, herbs etc)
...and the twist....
- Chalkboard paint!

Step 1.

Paint the pots with the chalkboard paint, making sure all of your brush strokes are in the same direction. Also, ensure you paint at least half of the pot inside so that you cannot see the original colour once the plants are in.

Step 2.

Once they are dry, place the plants into the pots

Step 3.

Fill the pots with soil

Step 4.

Place on the tray, write whatever you like on them, and you are done!!

I have a few other projects to do this week, but I won't be able to put them up until after my sister's birthday as they are for her! (he he he)
